Stan van Belkum is an artistic painter. Equipment and material used is unconventional: stirring rods and household paint (Borselen, Leiden). There are mainly three basic colours: blue, black and white. Sometimes another colour is added. Technique is a mixture of streaming paint, printing and manipulation of the stirring rod. Resulting effects are surprising. Sometimes this reveals itself in colour schemes –from darkblue through bright blue til very light blueish or from clear white via grey to deep, shining black-, and then in structures from very vague to clear, with almost cellular characteristics. Compositions evolve intuitive, free, without plans or thoughts. Afterwards the staring and thinking of what ones sees starts.
